Cosmic Frontier Computational End‐Station

PI Salman Habib, Argonne National Laboratory
Project Description

The Cosmic Frontier effort within the Department of Energy Office of High Energy Physics targets the physics of dark energy and dark matter, cosmological probes of neutrino physics, and the nature of primordial fluctuations ‐ some of the most important questions in all of fundamental physical science. Cosmological surveys are essential components of a major national and international research program aimed at understanding these questions. Simulations and data analyses play a central role in interpreting observations, and cross-correlation analyses across different types of measurements are necessary to control systematic errors. Motivated by these considerations, this project will support a computational end‐station tasked with an initial set of simulation and analysis sub‐projects. Outcomes of this work will support interpretation of experimental data from cosmological surveys and further our understanding of fundamental physics.
