One of the most exciting aspects of scientific computing is how fast the landscape changes. New science problems, algorithms, and technologies are continuously transforming our approaches while we redesign and replace our mammoth platforms every few years. One of our unique challenges is to predict and develop solutions for future problems while also supporting the years of investment in scientific software. The Argonne Mathematics and Computer Science Division has been a leader in computer science and applied mathematics for high-end computing for over 30 years. What are our near-term challenges for scientific computing at Argonne? How can we best tackle these challenges? Can we see over the horizon to future research topics that we can begin to explore now? Join me as we explore the future of scientific computing at Argonne.
