Baixi Sun is a Postdoctoral Appointee at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF). His research lies at the intersection of AI systems and data infrastructure, with a focus on building scalable data infrastructure for agentic AI and developing AI agents for autonomous and efficient data management.
He received his Ph.D. in Intelligent Systems Engineering, with a minor in Computer Engineering, from Indiana University Bloomington under the supervision of Dr. Fengguang Song. His doctoral research advanced scalable AI systems through innovations in data management across storage and memory hierarchies, communication, and compression for large-scale AI training and inference. During his Ph.D., he was also a Visiting Student Researcher at Argonne National Laboratory, where he worked on AI training data management with parallel file systems, scalable communication through lossy compression, and efficient computation on AI accelerators.
