Lance Long works with our Leadership Computing Facility (LCF) as Deputy Director of Operations. He previously was Senior Researcher at the Electronic Visualization Laboratory (EVL) at the University of Illinois Chicago, where he led the full lifecycle of advanced research computing infrastructure. With over 20 years of experience, Lance has managed complex systems ranging from immersive room-scale visualization instruments to high-density AI/GPU clusters, supporting a broad interdisciplinary user base. He brings expertise in full-stack research computing, from grant writing and vendor coordination to deployment and user support. Lance has contributed to national cyberinfrastructure efforts and supported hundreds of researchers through facilities management, training, and collaborative development.
