On behalf of the Technology Commercialization and Partnerships (TCP) Division and the Legal Department, we request that you encourage members of your respective divisions and research groups to register for and attend the 2018 Intellectual Property Symposium from 10 a.m. to noon on Wednesday, May 23, 2018, in the Building 362 Auditorium.

The event, presented as a "role play" of the processes, offers an opportunity for Argonne researchers to gain helpful insights and guidance about the Laboratory processes related to the following important topics:

  • Invention Disclosure/Patenting
  • Strategic Partnership Projects
  • IP Licensing

The information presented at the symposium will help researchers better navigate these processes, allowing them to identify and avoid common pitfalls that typically cause delays in securing intellectual property and in working with potential licensees or sponsors. The event, in a departure from past formats, is being designed as a storyboard of the processes, illustrating how these work in the Laboratory and highlighting the support that is available to assist researchers.

Included in the program will be insights from Argonne researchers who have had success in these areas and are open to sharing their experiences with their colleagues.
