Join us for the 2024 ALCF INCITE GPU Hackathon to work with expert mentors to prepare your code or boost its performance for the upcoming INCITE call for proposals. Both current INCITE awardees and future applicants are encouraged to apply.

The hackathon will pair selected teams of researchers with experts from ALCF and industry partners. Teams and individuals will work together on their applications for the INCITE and ALCC projects/proposals.

APPLICATION DEADLINE is MARCH 8, 2024.

Hackathon Dates:

  • May 6-10: Team-Expert Virtual Introductory Meeting
  • May 21-23: In-Person Hackathon at Argonne National Laboratory

Program Participant Expectations

This hackathon is intended for current awardees or applicants of INCITE/ALCC and as such we will review applications for the following criteria:

  • Ability to scale on an HPC system
  • Ability to show scientific significance
  • Indication of software readiness or bottlenecks
  • Teams are expected to include either developers or experienced users who are familiar with their code and can make appropriate changes
  • HPC, AI, and data science projects are welcome
  • Teams will need to be in person for the hackathon

We will aim to customize the interaction with each team based on their research needs and scaling bottleneck by providing access to experts who can help address their project needs. Some examples being:

  • Algorithm performance measurements and improvements on a single device or at scale
  • Measuring IO behaviors and addressing bottlenecks
  • Improve asynchronous behaviors that can lead to slowdowns

Housing: ALCF has secured rooms at Argonne Guest House during the event as well as shuttle to and from guesthouse to TCS center.

Book your room at the Argonne Guest House. Use Yasaman Ghadar as the Argonne contact and "GPU HACKATHON" as the room block code.

  • Pack your Real-ID driver's license, passport or HSPD-12 badge for when you visit Argonne.
