Led by ALCF staff, these introductory videoconferences will guide users through code building and job submissions, and provide tips for minimizing wait times and effectively backing up data. They are open to both new and current users.

 

Attend an ALCF Getting Started videoconference to learn everything you need to know to get your project up and running on ALCF systems.

Videoconference Details

Theta and Cooley Session:

Topics include system overviews; memory modes; OS and filesystems; environment settings; compilers; tools; job scripts; queues; and hands-on exercises

  • Thursday, July 26 | 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. Central Time

Mira Session:

Topics include system overviews; building code; accounts; allocations; storage; transfers; queuing and running; job status and manipulation; common problems; and hands-on exercises

  • Tuesday, July 24 | 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Central Time

To Join a Getting Started Videoconference:

 • Step 1: You must have an ALCF user account to participate in Getting Started Videoconference sessions. Apply for an ALCF user account: https://accounts.alcf.anl.gov.

You’ll need to select "ALCF Getting Started" as your project and "Ray Loy" as your PI. Once your account is established, you'll receive a CRYPTOcard token to access our resources during the hands-on sessions of this training. Because setting up your account and shipping your token takes several days, please request your account right away. 

 • Step 2: REGISTER for a Mira or Theta session.
