Flow over a wall-mounted cube in a turbulent boundary layer is a canonical problem with applications in many engineering systems like urban planning, flow over road vehicles, flow over printed circuit boards, etc. Wall-resolved Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of flow over a wall mounted-cube placed in a spatially evolving turbulent boundary layer (SETBL) on a flat plate are performed. In the present work, we replicate a conventional physics-based approach and propose a novel data driven synthetic inflow approach to simulate a SETBL.
