Biological cells have the natural ability to sense and communicate information with each other and the environment through the exchange of molecules and chemical reactions. Understanding these complex communication mechanisms and their impact on single cell behavior and multiple cell interactions is one of the current challenges faced by the research community. In this talk, information theory and molecular communication (MC) concepts are applied to multiscale integrated biological data to estimate and quantify the information & #64258;ow underlying the aforementioned communications in both microbes and human cells. This study focuses on the development of information and communication-centric computational tools to aid in the discovery of their underlying complex processes. These tools will inform the design of wet-lab experiments and help develop biological ontologies.
