The Argonne Leadership Computing Facility (ALCF), a U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science User Facility at Argonne National Laboratory, has recently appointed five new members to its 2025–2026 User Advisory Council. This council advises on ALCF policies and services, both current and future. Its members are appointed by the ALCF director and bring expertise in application requirements or specific domains. All members are current or former ALCF users representing its scientific user community.
- Steven A. Gottlieb is an Indiana University Bloomington Emeritus Distinguished Professor of Physics. His research focuses primarily on lattice QCD. Gottlieb is a founding member of the MILC (MIMD Lattice Computation) Collaboration and frequently collaborates with the Fermilab Lattice Collaboration. He is also a member of the Flavour Lattice Averaging Group (FLAG), where he works primarily on semi-leptonic decays.
- Allan Grosvenor is the founder and CEO of MSBAI (Microsurgeonbot Inc.). Grosvenor has 25 years of R&D experience in the design of experimental supersonic turbomachinery and hypersonic flight vehicles. His interests include high-performance computing, enterprise software engineering, and artificial intelligence.
- Daniel Mejía-Rodríguez is a computational scientist and postdoctoral research associate with the Systems Modeling and Computational Science team in Pacific Northwest National Laboratory’s Environmental Molecular Sciences Division and the Environmental Molecular Sciences Laboratory (EMSL) user program.
- Janet Scheel is the Ezra Frederick Scattergood Professor of Physics and the Physics Department Chair at Occidental College. Scheel’s main research focus is understanding the transitions to turbulence in heated fluids. She uses supercomputers at Forschungszentrum Jülich, Argonne National Laboratory, and Occidental College for her research.
- Marcos Sotomayor is a Professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in the Biological Sciences Division at the University of Chicago.
Along with these new appointments, the following council members have been reappointed.
- Achiiro Nakano is a Professor of Computer Science, Physics and Astronomy, and Quantitative and Computational Biology at the University of Southern California.
- Ravi Madduri is a Computer Scientist in Argonne National Laboratory’s Data Science and Learning Division and a Senior Scientist at the Center of Research Computing at the University of Chicago.
