DOE-ALCC

Submissions accepted September 1, 2011, through February 14, 2012

The DOE has issued a call for researchers seeking an allocation of compute hours at one of three DOE facilities. Open to scientists from the research community in national laboratories, academia and industry, the ASCR Leadership Computing Challenge (ALCC) program allocates up to 30 percent of the computational resources at the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility, NERSC and Oak Ridge for special situations of interest to the Department's energy mission, including:

  • Advancing the clean energy agenda.
  • Understanding the environmental impacts of global energy systems.
  • Responding to natural and man-made disasters or incidents (e.g., hurricanes, earthquakes, tsunamis and pandemics).
  • Broadening the community of researchers capable of using leadership computing resources.
  • Exploring new frontiers in physical and biological sciences.

Proposals are awarded an ALCC allocation based on a peer review for scientific merit and computational readiness.

ALCC applications submitted from September 1, 2011, through February 14, 2012, will be considered for allocation in 2012. For submission details, visit: http://science.energy.gov/ascr/facilities/alcc/.
