On Monday, August 25, starting at 14:00 UTC (9:00 a.m. CDT 08/25). the Eagle filesystem will be temporarily taken offline for a scheduled software upgrade and hardware maintenance. During this time, Polaris, Sophia, Crux, and EDTB will be unavailable, along with projects stored on /eagle (/lus/eagle/projects) and /grand (/lus/grand/projects); no jobs will run on the systems, and there will be no access to the login nodes. Additionally, the Globus endpoints alcf#dtn_eagle and alcf#dtn_grand will be inaccessible.
The storage upgrade is expected to be complete by Wednesday, August 27, in which case Sophia, Crux, and EDTB will be returned to service at that point. However, the upgrade work may keep these systems unavailable until Friday, August 29. Polaris will undergo an additional HPCM upgrade and is scheduled to be returned to service on Friday, August 29. Users are strongly encouraged to recompile code to avoid issues once the upgrade has been completed.
