What you need to do

All computing carried out on the ALCF systems is associated with a user account. If you don't already have an account, you'll need to set one up to log onto the login servers and run jobs on allocated resources.

New Users

Users must establish an account before they can access ALCF systems.

Here’s what you’ll need to get started:

  1. Start by clicking here: Request an Account.
  2. Enter your email, legal and preferred names, and a unique username in the corresponding fields.
  3. Verify that your email address is correct and establish security questions.
  4. Select the project of which you are a member.
  5. Enter your work and shipping addresses and the name of your employer in the corresponding fields.
  6. Enter your citizenship information.
Note: Foreign nationals must provide their passport number, their USCIS documents, and a PDF of their CV.
  7. Select a passcode option (physical or mobile token) and accept the terms of agreement.

Once your account request is approved by the project PI, the ALCF Accounts team will process your application. You will be notified via email if additional information is needed before your account is created.

Existing Users

Existing users should check to see if their account is currently active.

Note

Whether you're a new or existing user, if you are a foreign national (non-U.S. Citizen), you will need to fill out an ANL-593.

Information for Foreign National Access

The U.S. Department of Energy has guidelines and requirements for foreign nationals who access its facilities and sites. This guidance is issued in DOE Order 142.3, which is part of Argonne's contract; therefore, all foreign nationals (non-U.S. Citizens) must obtain authorization prior to using ALCF resources.

If you are a foreign national and do not have current authorization credentials, you are required to submit an ANL-593 (Foreign National Access Request) form. It is critical that identity documentation requests sent by ALCF staff are completed as early as possible to facilitate timely processing for your account approval.

To fill out an ANL-593, you will need:

  • Your passport number
  • Your USCIS documents
  • A PDF of your CV

If you are still having trouble setting up your account, please visit our Accounts and Access FAQ page.
